Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell was born on April 28, 1952. She is an American stage, film and television actress. Her role in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish were rewarded with Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is famous for her portrayals as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica, First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and Rose in Donnie Darko. In the seasons of 5-7, she was featured as Captain Sharon Raydor and in Major Crimes spin-offs on TNT.
